361 Degree Development of NIIS Students
In an endeavour to bridge the gap between Institutes to Industry, NIIS Group of Institutions arranges workshops, seminars and management games.
On 19 August 2017, one seminar related to Communication Skills has been taken by Dr. S. K. Mishra, Professor, English Department, NIIS Group of Institutions. This seminar has helped the students to learn how to communicate with others. This seminar has covered areas such as communication for managers, business communication, presentation skills, and negotiation.
To accomplish victory in life, students must possess a powerful personality. While some individuals are born with it, others can form up their personality if they work on themselves by attending personality development sessions. Personality and Attitude Building is very essential for the holistic Development of the students. Keeping this in mind, personality development session was organized for MBA & MPMIR 1st year students. Dr. S. K. Dixit, Dean cum Principal, NIIS Group of Institutions has continued the session by giving lecture on Personality & Attitude Development on the same day itself.
On 31 August 2017, one workshop has been arranged on “Team Work”. Mr. Abhimanyu Kar, State Head, Emami Cement Ltd. has deliberated very motivational talk and also has arranged two management games with an objective of teaching the importance of team work to the students.
Effective analytical and decision making skills are the critical competencies required to be successful in today’s business world. In order to build the decision making power among the students, one Case Study Competition has been conducted on 9 September 2017. Case Study was based on“Microsoft: Competitive Strategies”. Students have participated with zeal and enthusiasm.
An individual with a negative attitude finds a problem in every situation. Rather than cribbing and criticizing people around, analyze the whole situation and try to find an appropriate solution for the same. Personality development grooms an individual and helps him make a mark of his/her own. So, to develop and groom the personality of students, one seminar has been arranged on the topic “Personality Development” on 11 September 2017, Mr. Dushmant Ku. Giri.Only small men discriminate saying: One is a relative; the other is a stranger. For those who live kindly, the entire world constitutes but a family. With such a great spirit, A seminar on “Vasudev Kutumbkam” has been organised. So, if all the people in the world are like family, then it is our duty it to address the issues from climate change to cross border terrorism and also from global recession to global warming. It means that we all should be united to solve the problems that we all people r facing either social or economical or political etc.
Guest speakers from industry have become an imperative element of educational experience for students. This facilitates them with an introduction to real world experiences of victorious practitioners. Hence, guest lecture was arranged on “Leadership & its importance in Corporate world” . Mr. Sanjeev Gupta from My Home Industries on 14 Sept 2017.
In order to educate the students regarding the GST & its implications, one seminar has been organized on 15 November 2017. The seminar covered various facets of newly integrated Indirect Tax i.e., GST. Mr. Dilip Satpaty from Business Standard was the Chief Speaker of the seminar.
Spirituality in leadership cannot be understood apart from the more general issue of spirituality in the workplace as spirituality plays an increasingly important part in the workplace. From the perspective of building spirituality, a seminar has been arranged on 22 Dec 2017. The Guest Speaker. Mr. Bala Kishore has acknowledged the students on the wonderful topic “ Spirituality in Management.”
The budget is the government's main economic policy document, which shows how the government plans to use public resources to meet policy goals. “ The impact of Budget” is a magnificent topic for discussion. All the Master Level Students have participated in the brainstorming Session conducted on 6th Feb 2018.
We all live in a world which is networked together, from internet banking to government infrastructure, and thus, network protection is no longer an optional extra. Cyber-attack is now an international concern, as high-profile breaches have given many concerns that hacks and other security attacks could endanger the global economy. In the view of this concern, one seminar has been conducted for all Master Level Students on the topic “Cyber Security” in connection with IANT, Bhubaneswar on 7th Feb 2018.
On 12 Feb, MPMIR II sem students have participated in Chart Presentation Competition. The students have presented beautiful charts on HR topics and presented it in a wonderful way. Laxmikanta Sahoo won First Prize and D. Banani Vijayeta won Second prize. The Competition was a great learning for all the students.
One workshop on Soft Skills : A major Challenge for Employability has been conducted in connection with IIM, Kozikode on 26 & 27 February 2018. Mr. Subash Kartik is one of the well known name in the field of “Employee Performance Transformation & Life Coaching” and also a premier brand Management Consultant. As a presenter, Subhash Kartik has the rare ability to electrify an audience yet deliver uncommonly original and useful insights that lead to individuals doing their best work, teams providing superb results and organizations becoming unbeatable. “Be focused on your work rather than your designation, put action in that particular work and be deserving" is the mantra being followed by Life Coach himself. Mr. Kartik says, “Title doesn't matter to those who love to be remembered for their exemplary contribution towards their work by applying Living, Loving & Learning (LLL) approach and as per him the one who can really apply this approach, are called "True Leaders".
Admirable and Outstanding Key Note Speaker “ Mr. Shiba Prasad Mohanty” has successfully expressed & enlightened his views on Emerging Ethical Issues in Banking & Finance Sector. On 12th March 2018. Due to various scams in Banking Sector, this topic has gained attention of the students & the resource person has imparted the ethical practices in a very attractive way.
NIIS Group of Institutions have organized one Research Study on “ A Live Study on Fast Food Consumption- Habits, Taste & Preferences of Bhubaneswar People” on 21 March 2018. 32 MBA & MPMIR students have participated in the research. The Research study includes 350 sample size, out of which 100 questionnaires were filled up through different malls of Bhubaneswar. Students learned about the different aspects of Research and its practical implication.
One wonderful seminar on “Career in Entrepreneurship” has been conducted on 28 March 2018. Mr. Sounik Kajal (A HR Consultant and Career Consultant) was a Resource Person for this seminar. He is an Author and his first published Self Improvement Book is on "The Golden Rules for Life" and his other works include How to Become a Successful Speaker and Presenter, Improve Yourself, Career Course that achieved spectacular success. All the students have learned useful tips on the traits & characteristics of Successful Entrepreneurs, How to become Entrepreneurs and the schemes of Government in favour of successful Entrepreneurs.
The application of Big Data is becoming widespread these days by the organizations to outperform their peers. In most industries, existing competitors and new entrants alike will use the strategies resulting from the analyzed data to compete, innovate and capture value. Keeping in view, One Expert Session has been arranged on “Big Data & Business Application”. Mr. Suman Bhattacharya has enlightened the students on 5th April 2018.

On 7th April 2018, Mr. Manas Mandhata, GM, Convergence BPO has acknowledged the students on the very interesting topic “ Talent Mapping.” The session was wonderful and the students have learned about the important elements of Talent Mapping like requirements of the organizations for talent, competency mapping, competency profiling and how to make the optimum utilization of the E- recruitment.
